Zip pouches/bags

Zip pouches/bags – handmade from different, mostly fine cotton fabrics; the interiors are made of a separate fabric. Some fabrics are made from organic cotton, bamboo, linen etc. The pouches usually have squared-off bases so that they can stand up on their own. The rectangular ‘pencil cases’ are made with lightweight canvas interiors, for heavier use, and most of these have a robust metal zip.

Measurements are overall width x height, and are approximate.

More are made and added on a regular basis – please contact me if you are interested in a purchase but can’t see one available in a colour or size that you like as I’m happy to consider commissions. You can see some examples of previously made and sold items in the Textiles gallery – sometimes it is possible to make another pouch similar to one of those.

Cushions

Cushions: covers handmade from different, mostly cotton, fabric for the front, back, and inner lining. They come with a cotton cushion pad that is stuffed with 100% sheep’s wool.

Please contact me if you are interested in a purchase but can’t see one available in a colour or size that you like. It may also be possible to make more than one cushion in the same or a similar design/fabric; you can see some previously sold examples on the Textiles gallery page; it may be possible to make one or more cushions similar to those.

Mobiles and toys

These are designed and sewn by me using colourful and richly-patterned fabric and are stuffed with organic cotton wadding.

The fabric for the mobiles is ‘African wax print’ cotton – this describes the original technique that lies at the origin of this kind of fabric rather than the feel, texture, or surface treatment of the cloth. The creatures are suspended on linen threads from two fine, thin, real yew, horizontal ‘branches’ so that they can move freely.

Mobiles: the 3 parakeets mobile, based on photographs of real birds, are shown as if in mid flight; the wings are only lightly stiffened and can move. Each parakeet is approximately 23 cm long, and each wing is approximately 16 cm long. Sold, but a similar one can be made on commission – price £70.

The 4 fish – 1 large and 3 smaller – are more stylized. They take their overall form from depictions of oriental carp images and decorations. The large fish, intentionally made of a different patterned fabric, is approximately 33 cm long and 10 cm high. The three smaller fish, made of the same fabric as each other, are each approximately 28 cm long and 6 cm high. Sold, but a similar one can be made on commission – price: £40.

Designed and sewn by me from fabric – cotton and cotton velveteen – and filled with organic cotton stuffing. Sold, but similar ones, in the same or different fabrics/colourways, can be made on commission – price £20. Contact me if you are interested.

Lavender bags and sachets

Lavender sachets filled with organic Provençal lavender – handmade in cotton (some fabrics are organic cotton) – each one is unique: price £2.50. Online purchase available by clicking here, but you can also contact me for current available options, or if you would like some in a particular colour or kind of pattern.

Postage is added on top for sales made via my online shop, but you can contact me direct if no shipping option is shown to where you are, if you wish to purchase a number of items, or you’d like to pick up locally without paying postage.
